We had a St. Patrick’s Day themed birthday party last year for my daughter (who was born on St. Patrick’s Day, and is my little lucky leprechaun). I had a lot of fun researching and coming up with ideas for the theme – green everywhere, rainbows, pots of gold, shamrocks, leprechauns and so on. Everything from the decor and music to the food and games and activities was in the St. Patrick’s Day spirit!
The theme was introduced with the invitations (that had pictures of my daughter in St. Patrick’s Day attire), which asked everyone to wear green.
With Irish music playing, guests arrived and helped themselves to green and gold beads, and then headed into the family room to color St. Patrick’s Day pictures. Then, they were treated to a St. Patrick’s day lunch, which featured a Pot O’ Golden Nuggets (chicken nuggets), mini shamrock sandwiches, shamrock pasta, rainbow fruit salad, plus veggies and dip, green chips and guacamole (all of this is pictured below). We also had pitchers of green Gatorade and water. For the grown-ups, we had slow-cooked Irish Guinness beef stew and grown-up beverages. Then, the kids played party games followed by a leprechaun treasure hunt. While the kids were inside, a sneaky leprechaun hid treasures in the backyard, and the kids, with bags in hand, got to hunt for the treasures (much like an Easter egg hunt but with St. Patrick’s day type goodies). These bags of treasures served as party goody bags as well. The party concluded with cake and presents.
Here are some of the party details, many of which could be incorporated into any St. Patrick’s Day celebration, birthday, kid, adult, or otherwise. Enjoy!
