As of today, my 6-year-old daughter mastered tying both of her shoes (with double knots) all by herself. This is something she could almost do yesterday, needed a lot of help with last week, and couldn’t do at all a month ago. It is something her kindergarten teacher said to practice over the summer. And she did it … her own way. I have been trying to teach her how to do it a certain way for months, but she found her own way to do it!
I love witnessing my child’s moments of mastery of something she has been struggling to learn. It’s so great to see when it finally clicks, and she’s so proud of her accomplishment. There is always beauty and joy in learning!
